D&B at Meadowhall Shopping Centre

Click to enlarge. Dunbar & Boardman are currently working with The Meadowhall Shopping Centre, one of the UK's premier shopping centres, and its main contractor, Laing O' Rourke, to replace old and worn vertical transport equipment.

In 2005, Dunbar & Boardman reviewed the vertical transport of the John Lewis Oxford Street store which recommended installing escalators in the two light wells. The Board seemed to be convinced as in 2006 works started and both phases may be completed prior to Christmas.

Welcome to new members of staff:
 
Bernard HardmanOn the 1st October Bernard Hardman (pictured right) joined Dunbar & Boardman. Bernard is splitting his time between Sheffield and Birmingham, working from a base in Loughborough. He has worked for a number of lift companies and, for the past eight years, as a Consultant for Trent Health Authority.
 
Simon LancasterIn September, Simon Lancaster (pictured left) joined the Dublin team. Previously with Otis, he has most recently been working in Ireland as a Lift Consultant.
 
Helen Norris'Hels' is back! Helen Norris (pictured right) has returned to the London office working in admin after a four year family break.
 
John DanielsJohn Daniels (pictured left) joined the London office in March 2006 from Thyssen.
 
Max GuijtMax Guijt (pictured right) joined the Dublin office in January 2005 from the Dutch Navy and Thyssen.


Office Moves

Our Dublin office has moved to a prestigious development in The Capel Building, Mary's Abbey. The building incorporates an atrium, lifts with destination controls and a café - the Gary Rhodes restaurant has just opened.

Due to strength in our network and branches, we can deal with many larger clients pan re-branding/acquisition//sales comprehensively and satisfactorily.


Moving Forward


Twin Systems (Two lifts in the shaft) - We are working on a twin system for a modernisation project. In 2004 we recommended that this system was installed in the London Hospital Project, which is now under consideration.


High Rise


We are working on projects that are over 200 floors in height - watch this space!

Elevcon, June 06


Peter Boardman and Chris Meering spent a week in Finland at the Elevcon conference and spent an interesting amount of time on lift issues as well as watching the spectacular sun rise - well actually it didn't go dark!
 
Peter chaired some of the sessions.

Office Functions - Northern Golf Day - June 06

In June, we hosted our second successful golf day, held this year at Marriott Breadsall Priory Hotel & Golf Centre. Colleagues and clients, mainly from our northern region offices came along and enjoyed a great day's golf.
